You're Invited: Affinity Esports Grand Re-Opening in Newtown, April 12

By Meghan Friedland, Publisher/Editor, Macaroni KID Greater Danbury, CT April 9, 2025

Affinity Esports Group announces the relaunch of its Newtown Studio at 27 Glen Road, a 4,000-square-foot gaming and esports education hub. Just in time for Summer Camp season, the upgraded space features 20+ high performance gaming PCs and dedicated areas for game creation, content production, and competitive play.

Affinity Esports uses gaming as a tool for learning, personal growth, and career readiness. With locations in Newtown and Milford, the organization offers immersive programs that build community, enhance skills, and introduce young people to future opportunities in gaming and beyond.

Affinity will offer 10 weeks of Summer Camps from June 16 to August 22. Programs include Valorant Camp, Game Creation and Coding Camp, and Content Creation and Video Editing Camp. Camps blend digital learning with healthy screen time habits, encouraging outdoor games and social activities. Register at affinityesports.gg/newtown-camps.

“Our goal with all Affinity Esports programming is to provide young people with the structure and support they need to build real-world skills through the games they love,” says Kate Petersen, Director of Program Development. “Whether it’s leveraging critical thinking, creativity, and problem-solving to take on challenges in Minecraft, or strengthening teamwork, strategic thinking, and emotional regulation through competitive titles like Marvel Rivals or Rocket League, our programs are designed to foster both hard and soft skills that extend far beyond the screen.”

“As a parent, finding a place where my child feels not only safe but truly seen and included is everything,” says Wendy Taylor, a parent of an Affinity participant. “Affinity Esports has created a space where kids can be themselves, build confidence, and connect with others in such a positive way. It’s more than just gaming—it’s a community we’re so grateful to be part of.”

Dr. Roger Caramanica, Program Chair at Post University, adds, “Regardless of industry, today’s employers are looking for candidates that exhibit skills that align with, and can be learned from, gaming...Today’s gaming industry leaders understand this intersection and lean into this skill development.”

Celebrate the relaunch on April 12th at 6 PM or visit affinityesports.gg to register for camps, book a tour, or learn more.
